I have an unhealthy love of desserts, so it’s best that I only bake when I’m taking the end results elsewhere, or giving them to someone else.

Not the case today.  Oh well!

ZEBRA BROWNIES*

1 package chocolate cake mix (any kind - German, Devil’s Food, etc.)
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, room temperature
1 egg
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c milk chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.  Spray one 13x9 pan (glass, stoneware, foil, whatever floats your boat) with your choice of non-stick cooking spray.  Prepare cake mix as directed on package, and pour batter into the pan.  Mix remaining ingredients until smooth (it helps to beat the cream cheese by itself first), and drop by spoonfuls onto the batter.  Use a knife to cut the cream cheese mixture through the batter several times for a marbled effect.  Sprinkle with additional chocolate chips (optional, but advisable). 

Bake 25-30 minutes (or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center), rotating the pan halfway through bake time.

* Not made of actual zebras.

I’ve also experimented with red velvet cake mix and white chocolate chips instead, and I think it turned out pretty darn good.
